Our portfolio is typically concentrated in 20–30 positions, reflecting our conviction that great businesses are rare and should be held through cycles. We do not chase quarterly benchmarks. Our performance is measured in 5-year and 10-year rolling periods.
While we invest globally, our deepest expertise lies in Sub-Saharan Africa, where we have been investing since 1997. We have on-the-ground teams in Accra, Lagos, Nairobi and Johannesburg providing insight no external research can replicate.
Pan-African equities typically represent 40–60% of the portfolio, with the remainder allocated to international markets where we identify exceptional businesses at reasonable valuations.
We define risk not as volatility, but as the permanent loss of capital. Our risk management framework focuses on business quality, balance sheet strength and valuation discipline. We hold significant cash when opportunities are scarce rather than compromising our standards.
